We are working with an established SME consultancy specialising in transport planning and infrastructure development. Their team is dedicated to delivering innovative, sustainable, and effective transport solutions for a diverse range of clients. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior / Principal Transport Planner to join our dynamic team and contribute to our expanding portfolio of projects.
Role Overview:
As a Senior / Principal Transport Planner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality transport planning services. You will support the team with ongoing projects, lead and mentor junior team members, and contribute to the growth and development of the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planner looking to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage transport planning projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
- Provide technical expertise in transport assessments, travel planning, and sustainable transport strategies.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their professional development.
- Engage with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities to develop strong working relationships.
- Assist in business development activities, including bid writing and identifying new opportunities.
- Support team growth by contributing to recruitment and training initiatives.
- Keep up to date with transport policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in transport planning, preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of transport assessments, junction modelling, and sustainable transport solutions.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to develop junior staff.
- Proficiency in transport planning software such as Junctions 9, LinSig, TRICS, or similar.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a team.
- Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation (e.g., CIHT, ICE, TPS) is desirable.
