Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across various sectors, including infrastructure, transport, and urban development. They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Highways Engineer to join their dynamic team in London.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Highways Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering high-profile highway and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for the design, assessment, and implementation of highways schemes while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements. You will work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design and delivery of highway engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Undertake feasibility studies, concept designs, detailed designs, and technical reports.
- Ensure projects comply with UK highway design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, etc.).
- Liaise with local authorities, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to develop effective project solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Carry out site visits, surveys, and inspections as required.
- Oversee and contribute to the preparation of design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Assist in project management tasks, including budgeting, risk assessment, and programme management.
- Support business development initiatives and contribute to winning new work.
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it (ICE, CIHT, or equivalent).
- Significant experience in highway design and delivery within a consultancy environment.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of relevant UK highway design standards and legislation.
- Experience in highway drainage design (SuDS, MicroDrainage) is desirable.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
