Our client is a well-established, independent engineering consultancy based in the UK, specializing in geotechnical and civil engineering solutions. As a growing SME, they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, cost-effective designs for complex infrastructure projects. With a collaborative and forward-thinking approach, they work closely with clients across the transport, energy, and built environment sectors, with a particular focus on rail infrastructure.

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of geotechnical solutions for major infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for leading technical assessments, providing expert advice, and ensuring projects are executed efficiently and to the highest standards. This is a design-focused role, requiring strong analytical skills and experience in geotechnical design for infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering (essential).
     
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical design, particularly for infrastructure projects.
     
  • Strong understanding of ground investigations, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering.
     
  • Proven experience in rail infrastructure projects (highly desirable).
     
  • Ability to produce geotechnical design reports, calculations, and risk assessments.
     
  • Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, Slope/W, WALLAP, or similar).
     
  • Knowledge of relevant UK geotechnical standards and regulations.
     
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
     
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (ICE or similar) is advantageous.
     
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders effectively.
