The Senior Bridge Engineer will play a key role in delivering high-quality design and engineering services. Responsibilities include:
Developing conceptual and detailed designs for bridges and other structures in line with project requirements.Performing and reviewing structural calculations and analysis using appropriate software.Providing technical leadership, input, and review for design, assessment, and other technical aspects.Leading and mentoring less experienced staff to foster professional growth.Preparing fee proposals and managing project scopes, contracts, and financials.Managing and building relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.Representing MHB at client and stakeholder meetings and attending site visits, structural inspections, and investigations.Project management of small to medium-sized projects and oversight of multi-discipline commissions.
The ideal candidate should possess:
An engineering degree and be chartered or approaching chartership within 12 months (ICE/IstructE).A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a design environment.Expertise in bridge refurbishment/renewals across various structural types and materials.Leadership and communication skills with a desire for career progression.Experience in bridges, tunnels, stations, and buildings, as well as design using materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.Project management experience, including scope definition, coordinating design activities, and financial management.Experience managing teams of 2-4 people and working on multiple concurrent, multi-discipline projects.A clean driving licence and a client-focused, innovative approach to engineering.
