We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team. A successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of mechanical systems in data centre projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and client requirements. This role involves close client interaction and a significant site-based presence to oversee project execution and ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, understanding their requirements and ensuring their needs are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate effective communication between clients, project managers, and internal teams, fostering a collaborative and transparent relationship.
- Provide expert technical advice and guidance to clients, assisting them in making informed decisions about mechanical design and implementation.
Design and Engineering:
- Develop and review detailed mechanical designs for data centre projects, including HVAC systems, cooling solutions, and fire protection systems.
- Ensure all designs comply with local legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly with electrical and other M&E components.
Project Execution:
- Participate in site-based activities, overseeing the installation and testing of mechanical systems to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor and inspect work, identifying and addressing any issues or discrepancies during the construction phase.
- Provide timely solutions to keep projects on track and within budget.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with French regulations and safety standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols to mitigate potential hazards associated with mechanical systems.
- Stay updated on changes in local legislation and industry advancements to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive documentation for all phases of mechanical projects, including design specifications, reports, and as-built drawings.
- Provide regular progress reports to clients and internal teams, highlighting key milestones and any issues encountered.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in mechanical design and project execution.
- Participate in knowledge-sharing activities and professional development to stay at the forefront of industry trends and technologies.
- Contribute to the development of company standards and practices to enhance the quality and efficiency of future projects.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on data centres or similar mission-critical environments such as Oil & Gas.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and managing mechanical systems for large-scale projects.
Skills:
- Proficiency in using mechanical design software and tools.
- Strong understanding of local legislation and regulatory requirements for mechanical systems in France.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in both French and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
