ATG are seeking a motivated and experienced Ecologist to join a dynamic team in Dublin and contribute to an expanding portfolio of environmental and ecological projects.

As an Ecologist, you will play a key role in conducting ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and environmental impact assessments (EIAs) to support planning and development projects. You will work closely with engineers, planners, and environmental scientists to ensure biodiversity and sustainability are integrated into project designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ecological surveys, including habitat assessments, species identification, and protected species surveys.
  • Prepare reports including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Natura Impact Statements (NIS), and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs).
  • Provide ecological input into planning applications and regulatory submissions.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and biodiversity enhancement plans for projects.
  • Support clients in ensuring compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of ecological monitoring programmes.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, NGOs, and local communities.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (a Master’s degree is advantageous).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in ecological consultancy or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation and policy.
  • Experience in conducting habitat surveys (e.g., using Fossitt habitat classification) and protected species surveys.
  • Proficiency in ecological report writing and impact assessments.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM) is desirable.
  • GIS experience and data analysis skills are beneficial.
  • A full clean driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
