Access Talent group are currently recruiting for an award winning Environmental consultants in their head office in Bristol. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant/Senior Consultant with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Drainage Strategies. This position offers the chance to work with a forward-thinking, solution-focused environmental consultancy that places sustainability at the core of its work.
The successful candidate will assist in delivering FRAs and Drainage Strategies across a range of sectors, including property, renewable energy, and aviation. Projects will cover various stages, from early strategy development and feasibility through to outline design, planning submission, and discharge of conditions.
This role also provides the opportunity to work across different consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and Town and Country Planning applications.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies for a variety of projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design and integrate SuDS schemes and flood mitigation strategies into masterplans.
- Prepare and review planning reports and technical documents.
- Support and engage with the wider Water Team to ensure successful project delivery.
Required experience
- Ability to identify and communicate flood and drainage-related constraints and opportunities at development sites.
- Proven experience in producing FRAs and drainage strategies.
- Working knowledge of InfoDrainage (or similar drainage modelling software).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS for project design and analysis.
- Good understanding of the planning system and relevant policies, particularly relating to flood risk and drainage, such as the NPPF and SuDS Manual.
- Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports to a high standard.
- Desirable but not essential: Familiarity with Tuflow, Flood Modeller, FEH, or river restoration techniques. Candidates with or without this experience will be considered equally.
