We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our client, a prominent engineering services provider, for a long-term data centre project based in Gävle, Sweden. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial performance of the project, including revenue management, cashflow forecasting, and monthly reporting to ensure alignment with commercial targets.
- Develop and implement an effective commercial strategy to support the business unit's goals, including managing and mentoring a commercial team.
- Ensure all commercial processes are in place and followed, from pre-construction through to project completion, meeting all critical milestones with accurate and timely information.
- Lead contract negotiations, manage contract administration, and resolve disputes, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the project and the business.
- Evaluate tender submissions, identify risks and opportunities, and work closely with senior management to develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain detailed records of all commercial activities, providing necessary documentation to support decisions and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and consultants, ensuring all agreements are in place before work commences and payments are processed efficiently.
- Conduct regular audits of ongoing projects to ensure commercial strategies are effectively implemented, and improvements are made where necessary.
- Strengthen client relationships by maintaining regular communication and identifying new business opportunities to support the company’s growth.
Skills and Experience Required:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in quantity surveying, particularly in electrical or mechanical construction projects.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and commercial governance processes.
- In-depth knowledge of contract management, including understanding and administering contract terms and conditions.
- Excellent organisational skills, with a focus on accurate record-keeping and adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Experience in both pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities, including feasibility studies, cost estimating, contract administration, and variation management.
- Proficiency in Excel and other relevant IT tools.
