Access Talent Group are currently recruiting for a Associate Director or Technical Director in the Chemical process Engineering sector working on Water AMP8 projects across the UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and influential Wastewater Process Technical Director to lead on business development and process engineering across transformational programmes for critical infrastructure. This role offers the chance to work on iconic engineering projects both in the UK and internationally, contributing innovative and viable solutions to complex challenges in the water sector.

As a senior industry leader, you’ll play a strategic role in shaping the future of wastewater process engineering. You’ll bring together talented professionals, drive technical excellence, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality projects, making a meaningful impact on the communities these projects serve.

Key responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Oversee technical delivery and ensure safety and quality standards are met across multiple projects and programmes. Act as a point of escalation for resolving complex technical issues.
  • Strategic Direction: Define the technical strategy for projects and bid proposals, providing subject-matter expertise in wastewater process engineering.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within the practice, ensuring that quality assurance standards are upheld.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and internationally to deliver integrated and effective design solutions.
  • Capability Development: Grow, develop, and manage the wastewater process engineering capability within the practice. Inspire and mentor others, fostering innovation and advances in knowledge.
  • Client Partnership: Build and maintain strategic relationships with clients, becoming a trusted and go-to technical partner for their needs.

Experience

  • Chartered Chemical/Process Engineer with a proven track record in wastewater process engineering.
  • Strong leadership and influence within the industry, capable of inspiring and motivating teams both internally and externally.
  • Extensive experience in multidisciplinary integration and coordination, ensuring smooth collaboration across various disciplines.
  • In-depth knowledge of innovative treatment technologies, including:
  • Phosphorus removal (EBRP, chemical, and novel solutions)
  • Treatment of emerging contaminants
  • Biosolids treatment
  • Whole-life carbon and GHG reduction assessments
  • Familiarity with UK environmental and CDM regulations and the ability to assess capital and operational costs effectively.
  • Recognised subject matter expertise at a national or international level within wastewater process engineering disciplines.
  • Commissioning experience with a strategic, transformational mindset that drives industry-leading outcomes.
